Abstract

Detecting hazards on the road is a complex perceptual task, requiring fast and accurate responses. Our ability to detect these dangers may depend on their prevalence, or how frequently they occur. Research in visual search has shown that rare events are often missed, but it is unknown whether these effects extend to dynamic real-world scenes like driving.
